The role of the oil filter

Oil filter, also known as machine filter, in the lubrication system of the engine, mainly to remove various impurities and dust in the oil, always ensure the cleanliness of the oil and prolong the service life of the engine. At the same time, the oil filter is also used to ensure a good seal and smooth lubrication system oil circuit.

The role and function of the oil filter:

In order to reduce the frictional resistance between the relative moving parts in the engine and reduce the wear of the parts, the oil is continuously transported to the friction surface of the moving parts to form a lubricating oil film for lubrication. The oil itself contains a certain amount of colloids, impurities, moisture and additives. At the same time, during the working process of the engine, the introduction of metal wear debris, the entry of impurities in the air, and the production of oxides in the oil will increase the impurities in the oil. If the oil enters the oil circuit directly without filtration, the oil will be removed. Impurities in the movement are brought to the friction surface of the movement pair, accelerating the damage of the parts.

Types of oil filters:

Oil filters are generally divided into three levels, namely oil collectors, coarse oil filters and fine oil filters.

1. The filter screen is installed in the oil pan in front of the oil pump, and the metal filter screen type is generally used.

2. The coarse oil filter is installed behind the oil pump and connected in series with the main oil passage. There are mainly metal scraper type, sawdust filter element type, and microporous filter paper type. Now the microporous filter paper type is mainly used.

3. The fine oil filter is installed behind the oil pump and is connected in parallel with the main oil passage. There are mainly two types: microporous filter paper type and rotor type. The rotary oil filter adopts centrifugal filtration and has no filter element, which effectively solves the contradiction between oil passage and filtration efficiency.
